Tijuana Estuary
The Tijuana River NERR, in Imperial Beach, is a unique nature preserve located just north of the U.S. Mexico border. It encompasses approximately 2,500 acres, including a variety of habitats. Salt marsh is the most conspicuous, and as 90% of California’s Salt Marshes have been destroyed, it is vital that we continue to protect and research what remnants we have. The reserve is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, California State Parks, and NOAA.

U.S. Geological Survey
Internship with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) to participate in the Groundwater Ambient Monitoring and Assessment (GAMA) Program. The GAMA program is a comprehensive assessment of statewide groundwater quality. The program focuses on ultra-low detection water sample analyses to provide early indications of potential water-quality problems. The data also will be used to identify the natural and human factors affecting ground-water quality.
